15 Steps We Take To Sell Your Business

1. We start with our first major consultation with you, normally at your premises, to discuss and agree on your sales expectations; the suggested price, the timing and any other special details.  Because we need to gain the most thorough understanding of all aspects of your business in order to get the best possible price and to present the business the most effective way this will take a minimum of an hour of your time

2. We prepare the 'Authority to Sell' agreement, the seller's disclosure document and master file

3. We compile and review all of the seller's documentation (listed in 'How to Sell a Business the Smart Way'.) We ensure all documentation is complete and current and that will meet the potential buyer's requirements and those of their advisors - e.g., all financials fully prepared and complete.

4. We prepare all the preliminary informational documentation on business. This is a true summary of the businesses' activities and markets.

5. We develop a specific marketing/advertising plan and package to promote the sale of the business.

6. We prepare and place this agreed advertising.

7. We review and analyse the initial enquiry and buyer response, then hold qualification interviews and screenings. We ensure confidentiality - every potential buyer who reaches this stage must have signed a binding Confidentiality Agreement. We then fully brief the seller on the qualified, potential buyers.

8. We arrange fully accompanied inspections, supply feedback analysis to the seller and then follow-up qualified buyer/s

9. We arrange 2nd and subsequent meetings between seller and buyer/s

10. We consult with all the outside advisors - accountants, solicitors etc - of both buyer/s and seller.

11. We prepare the Offer to Purchase (Contract) and present it to seller.

12. We meet with buyer and seller and co-ordinate the Due Diligence process.

13. We follow-up with professional negotiation meetings between buyer and seller.

14. We consult with and advise buyer and seller regarding the correct and easy transfers of all leases, licenses, utilities etc

15. We assist, wherever required, in the final settlement and subsequent transfer to the business.
